Toeto had needed some time alone, so she decided to take a walk around the forest. It was so calm and peaceful. She hadn't been there since winter, three months ago.
Then she saw something absolutely horrifying...
"HaruHaruHaruHaruHaruHaru!" Toeto cried, bashing down the door to Hatsuharu's room.
"Was that neccessary?" Hatsuharu asked. "It's almost midnight, quiet down."
Knowing that she and Haru were the only ones in the room, she let herself collapse, her head bowed and her palms flat against the floor.
Haru just stared at her, his neutral expression replaced by a worried one. He seemingly had no clue what to do. He was always able to help others when they broke down like the poor neko just had, but this was Toeto. She didn't have mental breakdowns no matter what.
Her small body began to shake.
"She's not..." Toeto heard Haru whisper. "Is she?"
A small tear hit the floor. The first tear she had ever cried in her entire life.
"T-Teto?" Haru sat down next to Toeto and put one arm around her. "It'll be okay, Teto."
Toeto shook her head. "No, it won't!" She leaned against Haru and started bawling.
"You're scaring me, Teto. Stop it, please."
"But I can't!"
"Why not? What happened? What's wrong?" Though he was trying to sound calm, Toeto could tell from the vibes coming from him that he was completely terrified.
She said something to try to explain, but it was unintelligable.
"Calm down and try to explain, okay?" he said, his fears growing as each second passed.
Toeto took a breath from her inhaler and calmed down a little bit. "M-Momiji..." she managed to choke out. "He's dead..."
"I know! And it really scares me that he died in the same place my parents were killed."
Right before Toeto started crying again, Haru placed a gentle kiss on her lips. She gazed into his grayish eyes and saw only love. Her sorrow dissolved.
"I'm still here for you, Teto."
"I know that now."
Haru cradled Toeto in his arms. "I love you, Teto."
"I love you too, Haru."
Haru held her close and she soon fell asleep.
